Word of the Day: Deluge

Here's how Word of the Day posts are supposed to work:
I put up a word for which all commenters are to use in a sentence.
For example, today's word is DELUGE. I know what the word means, so I don't need boring comments like, "The deluge of information she received overwhelmed her." I'm looking for clever, even irreverent sentences, such as, "The deluge of athletic supporters in the "FREE" box in the faculty locker room at BYU catapulted Mark into a frenzy. He flipped and threw the jock straps every which way, searching for his size."

The winning comment will be posted for all to see, thus the winner will receive much fame and glory and lucrative joke contracts from David Letterman.

And for today for the winner, I'm throwing in a plate of cookies just to sweeten the deal. Yeah.

The deluge of Book of Mormon references in Marilyn Grundvig Miller's touching novel delighted and educated Beth. And what thrilled Beth even more was that she'd found an interesting friend in Marilyn: her vocabulary was immense and her errors were minor.

I'm so glad you are blogging again! Good to have you back!

If I win I don't want the plate of cookies back that I gave you on Sunday - deal?

"Despite the listing reading, "No Agents Please" Tia received a deluge of phone calls the day after she listed their home for sale by ravenous realtors in the scanty economy looking for some portion of the possible profit."

the deluge of giant squid tentacles sliding out of the cabinet onto her head made Ginna wish for home.

"Apres moi, le deluge."

Someone said that. Louis the sixteenth? That ought to be worth something. But not as much as:

Although she may not have been the famous Marilyn Grundvig Miller, Beth was impressed to find that her OTHER friend Marilyn's vocabulary was as voluminous as the deluge of milk issuing forth from her ample bosoms.

He had always dreamed of glory, or speed and the thrill of the banked and dangerous turn, and so, even though he had lived in the south of France, tending his grandfather's grapes and looking yearningly out at the Grand Pyrenees, whose frigid peaks seemed only to mock his dreams, one day, he lifted his fist and shook it at them, crying, "Laugh if vous will, mais - someday, I will reussire and take home the medal - I will conquer le deluge!!!"

There.
